How to Use Color Psychology with Bedrooms

Color psychology is an interesting topic while designing the interior of a room as it can affect how a room makes you feel. Some colors are used to create vibrant and energetic mood while some other colors can create smooth and relaxing environment in the room. There is no rule when it comes to interior decor of a bedroom because the choice, impact, and pattern of hue used is closely related to the feelings of a person.

Color Psychology of Warm Colors:

Red color being the expression of strength, love, and dignity is one of the most popular color. It can pump adrenaline which in return can increase heart rate and breathing rate. Use of softer hues of red is highly recommended as darker shades can cause irritability and restlessness.

 

Pink color reflects safety and impart feelings of relaxations and calmness. It is for the light hearted people and bring happiness in the room.

If your room catches less sunlight then yellow is the right color for such rooms. Yellow color is also associated with relaxations and feeling of amusement. However, it is not ideal to use yellow as the main background color as over the period of time it can trigger frustration and anger.

Green color is a very versatile color and express warmth and well-being. It is one of the best color for bedroom as it is close to nature and thus soothe the nerves of a person. Green color also reflects security and sense of reassurance.

 

Like green, blue color also reflects warmth and calmness. Light shades of blue are also helpful in lowering blood pressure and heart rate. However, darker shades of blue have opposite effect as it can trigger feelings of loneliness and sadness.

Color Psychology of Neutral colors:

Black color reflect mystery and secrecy. It is an ideal color for an introvert person. It reflects elegance and classic taste. Use it as an accent instead of main color. Each person has their own taste and a few prefer to design black room with gray and white touch, here’s how it can look great

 

White color represent purity, innocence, and wholeness. It imparts airy feeling to the room and create the illusion of space.

 

Brown is another color which is associated with comfort and relaxation. It act as a neutral color and can be used in combination with almost all the colors.
